Blast from the Past at The Perfume Shop
04 June 2009The Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest high street fragrance-only retailer has just re-launched a handful of the most famous men’s fragrances of all time in time for this year’s Father’s Day on 21st June.
From today, The Perfume Shop will be selling Brut, Old Spice and Blue Stratos across all of its 175 stores in the UK and Ireland and through its website, www.theperfumeshop.com.
The decision to introduce these lines comes hot off the back of the renewed nostalgia for the 1980’s which is sweeping the UK… from the reforming of legendary new romantic bands Spandau Ballet and Kajagoogoo to shoulder pads, which are hot fashion news this Spring/Summer, to the second series of Ashes to Ashes on BBC 1 complete with its own CD of featured 80’s hits.
Remembering the 80’s and its heady decadence seems to be a perfect antidote to the current doom and gloom of the economic downturn and political expenses scandals.
With all of our pockets now feeling the strains of the credit crunch The Perfume Shop has also decided to sell the scents at prices reminiscent of the 1980’s!
Speaking about the decision to re-launch these family favourites Keran Fordham, Buying Controller for The Perfume Shop said,
“Not a week goes by where one of our stores isn’t asked for a bottle of Brut or Old Spice. The public hold these fragrances in such high regard that we have decided that if the British public want them then, as the UK’s leading fragrance retailer, we need to be stocking them!
“At the moment it feels like 80’s bands and fashions are having resurgence so it seems only natural for us to bring back 3 men’s scents that epitomise that era.”

First launched in 1964 the brand has a heritage of sporting hero ‘faces’ including Henry Cooper, Kevin Keegan, Gazza and Daley Thompson. With the eponymous strapline ‘’Splash it all over’ Brut was HUGE in the 80’s.
Old Spice - Original Slash On 100ml RRP £7.78 TPS Price £5.99
Old Spice is the original classic men’s fragrance. Originally launched in 1938 it was designed with a ‘colonial’ theme, embodied by its tall sailing ship trademark. A hugely credible iconic brand with over 70 years of experience in making men smell good.
Blue Stratos - Aftershave Slash 100ml RRP £6.95 TPS Price £4.99
Originally launched in 1976 Blue Stratos is one of the most famous masculine fragrances from the 80’s.
