St John’s Shopping Centre Nose How to Raise the Cash!
04 March 2009With Red Nose Day 09 fast approaching, the team at St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth reckon they NOSE just how to get you to part with your cash. This Saturday they will launch a week of fundraising activities and events guaranteed to put a smile on your face with fundraising activities that everyone can get involved in. Every penny raised will go to Comic Relief to help transform lives across Africa and the UK. The fundraising events, which have been overseen by centre manager, Siobhan McConnell, form the most ambitious fundraising campaign that St John’s Shopping Centre has ever undertaken. Last year their fundraising efforts netted £2300 for Tayside Mountain Rescue. This year they are hoping to beat that target and will be running a whole host of competitions and activities from their dedicated Red Nose Day Shop that you can get involved in to help them reach their goal including: Funny Ha Ha!: Champion chainsaw carver Peter Bowsher will be back in Perth on Saturday 7th to help us kick off the fundraising by carving out a life size figure of Comic Relief founder, Lenny Henry. If you fancy bidding for one of Peter’s carvings in our silent auction, pop along to the Red Nose Day shop to place your bid. Funny Raffle!: Many Perthshire businesses have very generously offered up a range of prizes for the Red Nose Day Raffle, including the star prize worth £750, a two night luxury spa break for two adults at new hotel and spa property, Knock Castle in Crieff. The lucky winner and their companion will stay in a Deluxe Castle room on a dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner will be served in the hotel’s wood panelled fine dining restaurant and the prize also includes a revitalising one hour spa treatment per person per day and full use of the leisure facilities during their stay. Other prizes up for grabs include a Racing Experience from Perth Racecourse and a Luxury Food Hamper from Brig Farm Shop. Tickets cost £1 each with all proceeds going to Comic Relief. Funny Balls!: If the Krypton Factor is more your thing, then you might like to try your hand at our Funny Balls competition. We’ve got two cars, a Smart Car and a Caterham 7, and they’ve both been stuffed to the brim with red balls – but can you guess how many? It’s £1 a guess and you could win either a Tank Driving Experience for you and 8 friends or a Driving Experience with OpenRoadHire. Other fundraising activities across the week include a wordsearch competition, online giving, face painting, crazy hairstyles and Red Nose muffins. Siobhan McConnell, St John’s Shopping Centre manager commented, “Red Nose Day is an event that everyone loves and we’ve got a very full event plan to help them raise some serious cash this year. The generosity of local businesses in making prize donations has been overwhelming and I’d like to sincerely express my gratitude for their support and involvement in the campaign.” “Comic Relief is a very worthwhile charity that helps transform the lives of people in the UK and Africa, and brings out the fun and laughter in people. We’re delighted to be helping them make a difference.” For further information about the fundraising activities, visit the Red Nose Day shop in the South Street Mall which will be open every day, starting from this Saturday, from 11am – 4pm.
