Rannoch Day Centre clients are enjoying a fresh view this month with the arrival of three very large scale posters, recently shown in St John’s Shopping Centre during their Pop into Perth photographic competition. The posters were brought together for the competition with assistance from Perth Museum and Art Gallery whose current exhibition “From House to Mouse”, gives a history of shopping in Perth. The posters depict images of Perth’s city centre at various stages of the 19th and 20th century and have been “recycled” for use in Rannoch Day Centre’s work with their clients who suffer from dementia. The posters are used to help generate conversation and improve memory and recall. Jamie Nie, St John’s Shopping Centre’s administrator, and Linda Ness, marketing officer for Perth Museum and Art Gallery both visited the residents to present the posters. Jamie said “The posters generated a lot of attention when they were in St John’s Shopping Centre for the week. I’m really glad to see them being put to good use now that the competition is finished. It was immediately clear to me that they were a central topic of conversation amongst the Day Centre’s visitors.” For further information about competitions in St John’s Shopping Centre please log on to www.stjshopping.co.uk
