St John’s Shopping Centre Shortlisted for Community Award 04 November 2008
St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth, has been shortlisted for the Business in the Community Award in the 2008 Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards. The award, which recognises businesses that are proactive in their community engagement and involvement, will be announced at a glittering black tie event to be held at Crieff Hydro on Thursday 20th November. St John’s Shopping Centre has been credited for their proactive approach to charitable fundraising and for their efforts in working with local groups, such as Tayside Police Dogs Section, in order to enhance and improve the city centre environment for visitors to the shopping centre. Siobhan McConnell, St John’s Shopping Centre manager commented, “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for what is a most prestigious category. We believe firmly in working with the community in which we are situated and give generously our time, space and other resources to ensure we continue to add value to the Perth city centre. To be shortlisted for a Business in the Community Award is a tremendous achievement for our team here, many of whom work tirelessly to make a difference whether it is through fundraising for a local charity or simply helping a lost child find their parent.” St John’s Shopping Centre also has a dedicated “Community” page on its website on which it offers local charities the opportunity to publicise their events at no cost. All they have to do is ask! Siobhan continued, “As a shopping centre situated right at the heart of Perth, it is perhaps not surprising that we are inundated with requests to assist local charities and promote their activities to our visitors. Posting a community event on our website is an easy way of ensuring that we can continue to help out in as many charitable projects as possible.”
